Eagle Rock hike and Rose Bay sunset dip

This morning Cailene came over to my place; she wanted to hear me play guitar and see if I could teach her something. It was fun! We didn't stay that long, though, because we had to catch a train. She did say she'd love it if this became a thing and I taught her how to play guitar.

We walked to Redfern together and took the train to Waterfall Station, where someone picked us up by car and took us to the meeting point. We had signed up for a Bushwalkers Club activity: walking to Eagle Rock. There were about 20-30 people in total. Cynthia and Sunny were there too, but unfortunately, Angela couldn't join us due to a misunderstanding. We also met some new people; for example, there was a German who knew Venlo.

We went on a hike with the group of about 11 km, stopping for lunch with a view of Eagle Rock. It was a beautiful view. On the way back, we had to wait a long time because the tour guide had miscounted and thought we were missing someone. He and another person went looking for us for over half an hour, and finally returned without another person. It turned out the person he was looking for was right there with us. The warm sun was shining brightly, so I had sunscreen on my face, but because we were partly walking in the woods, I thought my arms would survive. Well, a bit naive, so uh, yeah, my arms are sunburned. After the hike, we went back to the station and had a nice long wait for the next train.

I walked straight from the station with Cailene to her room, from where the five of us (the "lobotomies") took an Uber to Rose Bay (I'd never taken an Uber before). We had a sunset dip on the beach; the sea was surprisingly not cold, at least I thought. We swam for a bit, then got changed again and all of us (the lobotomies + a few other people, Isabelle and Leah) went to get pizza nearby. Back home, we relaxed a bit, called my parents, played guitar, and finally put some pictures on my wall.

  1. Beautiful photo. Didn't dive off the rocks. And beautiful photos on the wall of the Armen family, they're badly burned. Carmen, you learn something new every day.

    • Everyone survived, safely on top of the rocks. My arms were okay, though they were burned, but thankfully that went away after a few days. It wasn't so bad that it really hurt or itched.
