September 8-9: Uni, Soap and Battle of the Bands

September 8th: Just a regular day at university. In the afternoon, I had a meeting with Charlotte, with whom I'm doing my poster presentation for chem lab. Afterward, I spent some time in the library working on a computational analysis assignment for "Beyond the Genome," even volunteering to use Matlab (a programming language) for it. That's about it for today.

September 9: In the morning, I had a soap-making activity from ChemSoc! I made three soaps, with different scents and colors. It was actually quite easy to make if you have all the supplies. I ran into Michelle there too; she was sitting next to me, and after a brief conversation of "I think I know you, but from where?" we remembered we'd met at Spoken Word Night. We had a great time together. There was also a free lunch, courtesy of FeedWell. Michelle said they're a popular company for these kinds of free lunches. It was delicious, though. I'll have to pick up the soaps another time, though, because I had to go to the lab before they were fully hardened.

Then it was genome lab. And Tanya stole me from Sophie, haha, so I'm working with her on this project (although the six of us are still in the same row). At one point, we were a bit overwhelmed because we had to redo part of the experiment because the equipment was failing us and wasn't working as it should. We finished around five o'clock and went straight to chem lab, even though I don't actually have to go to that lab until tomorrow. I'd been looking at all the experiments that need to be done in the coming weeks, and with all the overnight work, it would only work out in the schedule if I came to the lab today and Thursday, so four days instead of two... I don't know how they had this in mind, how it would fit into the number of lab sessions, because so far I've been on schedule every lab day.

In the evening, I went to the Battle of the Bands at Manning Bar. My friends had originally planned to come, but they couldn't make it. I still had a great time! The bands were all really good and enthusiastic!
