Yesterday, we didn't do much. Today we (Cynthia, Cailene, Angela, Sunny, and a friend of Cynthia's) went to Wollongong and Kiama, a bit south of Sydney. We took the train for about two hours. I made it to the train on time, but the rest didn't, so we had to wait an hour for the next one. So we went to Krispy Kreme where we got some delicious donuts for a student price. On the train, we worked a bit on "Beyond the Genome," slept a bit, and chatted occasionally. In Wollongong, a friend of Cynthia joined us, and we all walked to the beach. After delicious breakfast tacos, we went to a place called Bombo, a great name. Beautiful view! Then we took an Uber to Kiama (the station wasn't very cheap, so Uber was more convenient) and there we looked at a blowhole. It was cool to see how high the water was sprayed into the air by the force of the waves and impact. We also saw whales in the distance in the sea!!! Wow! One jumped high into the air and fell backward back into the water. We could even hear them singing a little. On the way back, we tried to grab a quick bite to eat somewhere for our long journey, but the pizzas were taking too long due to some mistake, so we got our money back and then had to sprint to catch the train. Once back in Sydney, we all went to the student apartment where Cailene, Sunny, and Angela live and ate mac n cheese like real Americans do, and ramen with pak choi and spam (I didn't know spam even existed in the US, but apparently it did). One of them had brought mac n cheese packages all the way from the US, haha. I thought the mac n cheese was okay, not amazing or anything, but okay, haha. The ramen was good : )
(There are still a few photos missing, but the website isn't working as well on my phone and I don't have my laptop with me right now, to be continued)
