Cynthia and Cailene were the first to wake up, so they went ahead to pick up the car we'd rented for the next few days. Around 10 a.m., we checked out of the hostel and had breakfast at a small restaurant: Japanese fluffy pancakes, delicious! After a quick trip to Woolworths (grocery store) (grapes are incredibly expensive in Cairns, btw, apparently an Australian thing), we drove to our first destination: Lake Barrine. We looked around and took a short walk. We spotted all sorts of plants from the houseplant section: fittonia, palm, dracaena, ferns, etc.! We also saw a bush turkey just walking down the street. Our next destination was Lake Eachom, where we jumped in the water and luckily didn't get bitten by the resident freshwater crocodile, haha. After that, we drove to three waterfalls (Millaa Millaa Falls, Zillie Falls, and another one). One of the three waterfalls wasn't really visible from the fenced-off area, but the other two were beautiful! At one of the waterfalls, we even saw a turtle with baby turtles!! How cute!! On the way back, we stopped for a cow, but the cow wasn't interested in us and didn't look very happy, so we got back in the car, haha. The car rides themselves were fun, with music playing, beautiful views of the Tablelands, and of course, we messed around with the music to irritate each other with really long songs (10 minutes long) of different musical genres. In the evening, we checked into the Jackaroo Motel and had Uzbekistan food (pilaf) somewhere. Energy was a bit low, so dinner was appreciated. After we all had fresh showers and Cynthia and I had gone mosquito hunting in the room, we played a few rounds of photo roulette (guess whose picture this is), which was fun. We also watched My Little Pony while waiting for each other to shower, and ended the evening with the film Hunt for the Wilderpeople, a New Zealand film about a rebellious boy who travels through the wilderness with an old man, all the while trying to avoid the police because they think the man has kidnapped the boy.

This time I took a different approach to taking photos, which saves a lot of work. I took a lot of photos this holiday because it's so beautiful here!
