After a quick wash, I went to the Royal Botanical Gardens around 1 p.m. There, Cynthia and Angela joined me in a Photosoc photo hunt. There were about six groups in total, around 30 people. All the other groups had at least one real camera, and we showed up with our phones, haha. We were given instructions on what kind of photos to take (and free snacks), for example, "something red," "contrast," "imitate a statue," "typical Sydney," "texture," etc. A total of about 12 prompts and two hours to complete. At the meeting point, we saw a bride walking to her wedding—now that's what I call contrast—we students doing a nonserious photo hunt, and they getting married. We also saw two more weddings and a proposal (which, by the way, we took our statue photo right next to). Today I saw my first real Australian spiders, haha. You hear so much about them, but it actually took a few months before I saw one (or rather, one that was more exciting/bigger than regular spiders like in the Netherlands). The three of us also chased a few birds to get an animal photo, but they wouldn't pose nicely for us, and we thought the spider photo was cooler, so that was it. At the Wishing Tree, somewhere in the gardens, there was a sign saying you had to walk around it three times clockwise and then three times the other way, so like a true cult, we walked six laps around the tree, haha. Well, unfortunately, we didn't win, surprise. But we had fun, and the weather was nice. Afterward, I took the bus home. At the bus stop, someone waved at me, but I really had no idea who it was. I think she really was waving at me, uhh, yeah, no idea, sorry, so I half-waved back, completely confused. By the way, there are flies here that keep circling you; Cynthia seemed to be the target today. I did some grocery shopping at Coles on Broadway and cooked kale at home like a true Dutchman. It was a bit tricky without a potato masher. The smoked sausage was replaced with Australian BBQ sausages, but that was delicious too.
