Kirribilli Markets, Strings, Mentor and Caterpillar Club

We took the train from Redfern Station to Milsons Point. It went over the Harbour Bridge! Cynthia and I apparently took the same train, but we only discovered that when we got off. We grabbed some breakfast together and waited for the others. We also walked a bit onto the bridge, but this time from the other side. When Cailene, Sunny, and Angela arrived, we went to check out the Kirribilli Market, which is located under the bridge and sells all sorts of things and food. There was live music too!

Around noon Cailene and I went to Town Hall and found a guitar store for part three of the guitar mission: strings! Of course we also looked around to see what they had : D. I now have everything I need for my guitar! And I managed to keep it cheap: $17 for the strings, $50 for the speaker, and only $25 for the guitar?! The guitar guy actually started lowering the price while I was just asking things like "do all the buttons work," "when was the last time you tested it," so I accidentally haggled or something?

Afterward, we met up with our mentor group (we'd both signed up for the mentor/mates program specifically for international students and happened to end up in the same group). So, with two other students and the mentor (also a student), we ate at Betty's Burgers near Darling Harbour and walked around the area for a bit.

I cooked dinner at home and messed around with my new guitar. Cutting the strings wasn't easy at all without decent pliers, but luckily I managed it in the end. After that, I searched the whole house, every drawer and cupboard, for a screwdriver, but no, we didn't have one. I didn't feel like going to Kmart, so I tried to loosen the screws from the plate on the back of the guitar with a knife. I needed to replace the strings. After a bit of fiddling, I managed to loosen four of the six, but the last two were still rock solid. I gave up for now and went with the lobotomies to a jazz bar called the Caterpillar Club. A few other people I recognized from the intro week were there too! There was supposed to be live music there, but alas. It's a very popular place, I think, or at least very crowded. After a while, I moved to another café, literally two doors down, where we had a very philosophical conversation for a while, haha.
