Slept through my alarm again, oops. That afternoon I volunteered for a USU "sandwich making" event for children at school without lunch. It was quite a funny experience and gave me a sense of accomplishment. I was one of the "runners," so I brought the prepared and packed sandwiches to the crate where they were collected and stacked. Oh, and the runners had to make sure the bread, butter, and cheese on the table didn't run out. Other roles included making sandwiches, packing them, and stacking them. Every now and then someone would shout across the room how many we'd made, to motivate us. In the end, with about 40 people in total, we made 1215 sandwiches in less than an hour! Teamwork is the dream, as they say! And Emma and Sara were there too! So we chatted with them too : )
Then I looked for an ATM, went to at least three locations where there should have been one according to a website, but no one. So I continued on in the pouring rain and finally found one. I got ripped off by that thing; it cost me $9.60 (so divided by two plus a little is around 5 euros) just to take the money. I walked home with my wet socks and shoes and tried to dry them in ten minutes, but that wasn't really successful. My other pair of shoes was still wet from yesterday... So, back into the rain and onto the bus, and then an hour-long metro ride to Hills Showground (quite a distance west of me). The metro was very crowded during peak hour. Oh, and the metro here has those cool doors that align exactly with where the metro stops.
At the station, I was looking for a "red Honda Civic," so I first googled what it looked like, because, well, I don't know, there were several red cars there. I found the car, checked everything was okay, and bought a guitar—yippeeeeee! The old Chinese man was very kind, warned me about the dangers of the city, and urged me to be careful. He said he had a daughter himself. He rummaged around in his car and gave me a fake dollar with a Bible advertisement on it—interesting, but kind. Then I took my new guitar back to the subway, with an hour to go (I even got a "bless you and be careful" message from the man). This subway was deserted; I guess people don't go out much after 6 p.m. I did some pharmaceutical work in the subway, because of deadlines.
Warmed up at home, ate, and quickly headed to trivia at the Fortress where my friends were already there (Cynthia, Cailene, Sunny, Angela—from now on, I'll call them the Lobotomies, because that's more or less our group WhatsApp name and shorter). There was a drag queen presenter who occasionally did a show for us, which was fun. After that, I made midterm plans and booked my flights! We're going to Cairns!
The walk back was cold. At home, I opened the guitar case again and yuck yuck yuck, there was a cockroach. I quickly zipped it up and solved it outside my room; I don't want those fast creatures in my room. I still have to give everything a good cleaning before I want to play it.
